What's your worldview?

Everyone has a worldview. It's the way we view the world around us.

A worldview is the sum total of our assumptions, values, preferences and culture. Our worldview may be the outworking of how we were brought up or educated - something we've just accepted as 'the way it is.' Or, it may be the result of careful exploration and thought, and a decision to adopt a set of beliefs and values. In Christian thinking, it's understood that our worldview is also the result of our spiritual insight - what God has both revealed to be true, and enabled us to be convinced of to the point of placing our personal trust in Him.

Our worldview will profoundly shape the way we live - both consciously and unconsciously. What we believe to be right, true and valuable will inevitably inform our choices, relationships and lifestyles. To put it another way, our head (thinking) informs our heart (affections), and our heart will drive our hands (actions).

Identifying your worldview is a good first step in the process of assessing your life, and seeking answers to life's big questions like, 'Who am I? Is there meaning to my existence? Is there a God, and if so, can I know him?'
