You are a deist.

‘There is a God, but this God is so great that we should not make definite claims about who God is, nor claim to relate directly to God.’

You may feel that the personal and intimate way Christians talk about God feels like we’re somehow pulling God down to our level, or that this kind of view of God is old fashioned or even superstitious. Your own experience may communicate to you that God is distant.

Maybe, for whatever reason, you would prefer to keep God at arm’s length, and this is easier to do if you think of God as distant, or way too big to be interested in you and your issues. What if God is actually right here, involved our lives, but you're doing your best to shut Him out?

God has revealed Himself to us as personal - a God who may be known and who is intimately involved in His creation, ultimately seen in the coming of Jesus.

‘She [Mary] will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name "Immanuel", which means "God With Us"'

(An angel, speaking to Mary’s husband, in Matthew’s biography of Jesus, 1:21-23)
