You are an Atheist.

‘There is definitely no God, since the existence of God cannot be proven by logic or empirical methods.’

You may be one of two kinds of Atheists:

  1. Philosophical - someone who has thought it through carefully and seriously, and sees it as the best, most logical conclusion.

  2. Practical - someone who hasn’t thought it through, and is normally reacting against a bad experience with church or religion. For you, Atheism is the easiest cop-out.

To claim that God definitely doesn’t exist is to claim an all encompassing knowledge. Since no human being would be so arrogant to claim to know all things, we should acknowledge that there may be God who is currently outside our field of knowledge. Maybe underneath your atheism, you’re really an agnostic.

Don’t be sucked in by popular religious fundamentalists like Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens. It takes much more ‘faith’ to deny God than to accept what we all know deep down to be true.

‘ ...what can be known about God is plain to us, because God has shown it to us. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So we are without excuse.’

- Paul, writing to Roman Christians, 1:19-20

‘Whoever has seen me has seen the Father’

- Jesus in John 14:9
